Product information contributed by George Loo. This product was found in one of the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Homefix store in the shopping complex, Causeway point (Singapore).

Description

As the name of the product implies, it is a LED torchlight that make use of a built-in magnifying glass to focus the brightness of the light.

It is the size of a palm, using 3 units of AAA batteries. When the top is pulled up (as above) it become a lamp.

When the top is pull down, it become a handheld torchlight.

This is where the torchlight is being magnified to give you a brighter result.

Review
STRENGTH
* Using 1 LED, it is able to be brighter than other LED torches by the clever use of a magnifying lens.
* Lower cost (S$17) versus S$29 for 3 LED version without magnifying lens.
* Can pull open to become a lamp

WEAKNESS
* Quite difficult to turn on/off with one hand.

OPPORTUNITY
* can use the magnifying lens idea to make really low energy bulbs

THREAT
* older bulb/LED torchlights might adopt the use of magnifying lens to compete.

OPERATION
* Testing in progress.

PATENT-ABILITY
* Unknown

STRENGTH
* No need to buy a new MP3 player & throw away existing car radio.
* MP3 is portable. Music download is simplified.
* Powered by AA battery which is readily available.
* Multiple function incorporated (FM transmitter, FM tuner, MP3 player, voice recorder)

WEAKNESS
* Conventional design, will lose out to mini-iPOD MP3 player.

OPPORTUNITY
* Can be use for conventionat Hi-Fi set without MP3 support.
* Potential use for lecture/seminar/talk without costly audio setup. Each listener Can be issued with a cheap FM reciever. The presenter Can attach a FM booster to transmit his speech to the audience.

THREAT
* Highly competitive market. Unless The inventor Can patent The FM transmitter part, it will be subjected to copying.
* new car/HiFi set usually come together with MP3 support.

OPERATION
* Unknown

PATENT-ABILITY
